today I spent several hours with the directors and some babies at the hospital to get check ups for international adoptions. We went back and forth to different offices getting papers signed and children cleared.
altogether we had four kids, (wonderful compared to last time's 15). It took several hours but I was able to observe some things
babies pee wherever, one of the foster care moms just let her baby let out a fountain of urine onto the floor, and the custodians were ok with cleaning it up. thank goodness for split pants.
waiting is a fact of life. waiting in hallways on plastic chairs in the dim light.
money speaks. fortunately our wait was short, but it has been known that our babies get pushed back in line if there are paying customers. but the flip has also been known, in the non-peds units where complications of adulthood are more common and unfortunately found in our kids, we get special treatment. so it goes both ways.
