R and I went to the Engineering Fountain today and he explained that the person who created had sensors put into the columns so that when people walk by, they can control the water.
After a short bit of time, the fountain turned off and I asked him to humor me by stepping inside of it. It's perfectly safe but he didn't want to get "rained on".
